The
BOTANIC SHAPES
Series
The BOTANIC SHAPES Series
is rooted in the vision of
combining interior design and fine art,
bridging the gap between the two
by integrating works of art into homes
in unexpected ways.
Artisanal ceramic art
with a purpose
The currently available BACCHUS collection is made for those entwined in the world of wine, consisting of ceramic art pieces and illustrations portraying grapes, vines and other related subjects.
A common theme in this series is the full utilization of
the three-dimensionality of the space surrounding a piece of art; these artworks were designed to crawl around doorways and walls, and over the edges of shelves — just like real vines growing on a trellis or the wall of a building.
Each piece is made to order and customization is always an option if you’d like something in a different shape, size or colour.
Visits to botanical gardens, along with the study of
scientific illustrations and Art Nouveau posters of
the late 1800s have provided endless inspiration and molded
the visual and conceptual framework of this series.

“Wine is bottled poetry”
-Robert Louis Stevenson
Domesticated thousands of years ago, the common grape vine (Vitis vinifera)
has provided us with various culinary pleasures for millennia, with the oldest winery in the world, located in Armenia, dating back more than 6000 years.
Often portrayed through Bacchus (also known as Dionysus), the god of wine-making and festivity in ancient Greece, this plant has inspired artists of many disciplines to create art from poems and paintings to songs and sculptures.

VITIS
Material: Dark stoneware clay; glaze; metal wire
Price: 60€ per segment
For those with a sophisticated taste and love for good wine.
The Vitis (Latin for ‘vine’) piece consists of separate ~40 cm (~16 inch) long ceramic segments linked together with metal rings. This grants the artwork some flexibility, allowing it to be set over the edges of bookshelves or bent around doorways, or simply hung on a wall in a straight line. The metal parts are hidden behind leaves to create the illusion of a continuous structure.
Ideal for a winery, vineyard, wine bar or cellar to create an inviting atmosphere, potentially cover up aesthetically suboptimal structures and communicate an appreciation of artisanal handcraft and culture to visitors.
The vine is formed from dark brown Spanish stoneware clay with intricate details to resemble a real plant, and left unglazed to retain its coarse, organic texture. Each Vitis piece is unique due to the artisanal crafting process that is completed entirely by hand by the artist, without the use of molds. Each segment is signed on the back.
Made to order, in any requested length.
Designed to be paired with, but sold separately from the Vinifera grapes. See below.

Red, green and blue. Three vibrant colour options will soon be available, with even more optionality
coming in the future.
Eye-catching details. The glassy, jade-like surface of the grapes creates a captivating contrast with the natural brown clay of the leaves.
Symbolism. Grapes have traditionally been associated with agricultural prosperity and fertility, making this artwork a great addition to the premises of a vineyard or winery as a manifestation for a succesful growing season and plentiful harvest.

“Growing up, I would always draw these little flowers and ornamental vines along the edges of greeting cards and notebooks, just to fill up the blank space with something I found beautiful. Years later I still find myself doing the same thing — only on a bigger scale.
I see the empty nooks and crevices in apartments and the narrow spaces between door frames and ceilings, each of them surfaces that are too often overlooked and forgotten, and I imagine
a thousand possibilities for what they could become.”
